Now that the holidays are over, thoughts turn to getting organized for the New Year. As you begin to do that, keep in mind the Arts Coalition’s big fund-raising event the end of January. It is called “Art Out of the Closet.” We are looking for donations of gently used art for silent auction.
As you clean out your home or office, consider donating items you have grown tired of or no longer need. We are looking for original paintings, fine art posters, pottery, jewelry, glass, photographs, textiles and lithographs for the recycled art auction. Items can be dropped at BMO Harris Bank and the General Store until January 21. Forms at the sites need to be filled out with the description of the items and a suggested fair market value. There is a tax benefit, of course, for the year of the donation.
Then attend the auction to bid on new items to refresh your walls at home or in your work space. Don’t forget to purchase a $30 gift certificate, too. This is your chance to own an original piece of art created by an area artist. Called Creative Canvases, each 8 by 8-inch square is painted in a medium that the artist chooses. Gift certificates and Creative Canvases are now on display at Nina’s, No Rules Gallery, The General Store, Arcadia Book Store, and BMO Harris Bank in Spring Green. Also check out the largest display of canvases in the Community Room of the Spring Green Community Library. A gift certificate gives you the chance to own one of these.
Proceeds go to support local arts and cultural programs that benefit communities in the River Valley. Thank you and see you soon.
