Biking
There are many wonderful bike routes in the Spring Green area. A marked bike lane runs all the way from Hillside School (just south of the Wisconsin River on Hwy. 23) to Dodgeville, and the Military Ridge Bike Trail is also accessible from Spring Green by following Hwy 23 south to County Hwy. Z.

A Pair of Our Favorite Rides
Area cyclists highly recommend these two rides, which both begin and end at the Spring Green Area Chamber of Commerce office. See the map [opposite? Or wherever it is].
#1 Challenging
Distance: 28 miles
The rural Wisconsin scenery along this route is simply breathtaking! It’s flat for the first eight miles, then climbs to the top of a ridge where you can see for miles.
- Ride west from the Chamber of Commerce on Jefferson Street to Wood Street, which is Cty. Hwy. G.
- Follow Hwy. G north across Hwy 14/60, past Cty. B and up the hill to Ridge Road.
- Turn east and follow Ridge until it intersects with Knob Road
- Turn right and follow this to County B
- Turn east and follow Cty. B through Plain (the 15 mile mark)
- Head east out of Plain on B and turn South on Wilson Creek Road
- Follow it down to WC and turn right
- Then turn left on Neuheisel Road
- As Neuheisel crosses Hwy 60, it becomes Rainbow Road which leads back into Spring Green.
Alternate: You can also follow Hwy 23 from Plain back to Spring Green.
#2 Easy
Distance: 16.5 Miles
This ride is mostly flat and perfect for the novice biker. Also a beautiful ride.
- Ride west from the Chamber of Commerce on Jefferson Street to Wood Street, which is Cty. Hwy. G.
- Cross Hwy. 60/14 and turn west on Cty. JJ
- Follow Cty. JJ to County Line Road
- Turn south on County Line Road, cross Hwy. 60 and ride into Lone Rock.
- Turn left on Olson Road, go a few blocks and turn right on Porter Road
- Cross the railroad tracks and turn east on Kennedy Road back to Spring Green
Alternate: For a more challenging ride, cross the Wisconsin River at Lone Rock and follow Cty. C to Hwy. 23, back across the river and into Spring Green.
Warning: Highway 23 is a major highway and is especially busy during the summer months. Please use the utmost caution if you ride on this road.
